本片跟《小鬼当家》是同一个套路，但“小鬼”的年龄更小，只有五岁，调皮捣蛋的程度也远远超过考尔金的角色。本片改编自50年代的漫画及后来的电视剧，小鬼丹尼斯跟邻居威尔逊老头的往来乃剧情的主线。该片在同年及1998年还有两部电影版，但每部演员都不同。。When the single middle-aged Luis travels from Barcelona to bury the remains of his mother in the vault of his family in Segovia, he is lodged by his aunt Pilar in her old house where he spent his summer of 1936 with her.
