许志强是个彻头彻尾的小人物，在遇到李国富之前，他甚至连请女朋友吃顿像样的饭都做不到，但一次偶然的机会，让他成为了“富”选之人，一夜暴富。本以为自此走上人生巅峰的许志强自然免不了要花式炫富，可富还没炫够，就被告知背上了巨额负债，“富”选之人瞬间沦落为“负”选之人，只是炫出去的富，泼出去的水，许志强只好用最豪气的方式还最卑微的债。面对女神的求助，朋友的道德绑架，志强只好拼命打工维持开销，一连串的打击并没有让志强屈服，宁可牺牲自己，也要守住道德底线，自此开启了一段让人啼笑皆非的另类富豪生活。。经过劳动改造，犯人李慧泉（姜文 饰）刑满释放，他回到了从小生长的胡同。老街坊邻居罗大妈很照顾这个父母亡故、孤苦伶仃的小伙子。当年，哥们叉子因为女友爱上了别人，气愤不过，拉着讲义气的李慧泉，教训了那个男人，结果无意中弄出了人命，二人双双入狱。如今，叉子的家人对他们依旧抱有成见，只有叉子的弟弟觉得李慧泉是条汉子。 李慧泉在民警小刘（刘 饰），后来选择了练摊谋生，期间遇到了三教九流令他尝遍人间冷暖。在歌厅里，李慧泉认识了驻唱的歌手赵雅秋（程琳 饰），此后他成为她的护花使者，但是在他决定重新开始新生活的时候，却陷入了始料未及的困境…… 本片根据刘恒的小说《黑的雪》改编，获得1990年柏林电影节银熊奖。。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
