某市发生儿童尸体内脏不翼而飞的事件，自由记者兼石庄太（和田聪宏 饰）为调查真相蹲守医院，经亲眼见证儿童尸体死而复生的惊人场面。在搜集线索时，兼石偶然得知附近的丙村35年前曾发生儿童集体失踪的事件。直觉让兼石相信，丙村的失踪案与当下的内脏案有直接联系，于是他和镇公所的女职员香坂（真木よう子 饰）动身前往该村调查。 但他们的调查并不顺利，对于当年的事件村民三缄其口。然而随着当年失踪的两个儿童以35年前的模样再次出现村中时，兼石才渐渐了解村民竭力隐藏的惊天秘密……。为了儿时的友谊，苏城（张峻宁饰）把心爱的女孩林静（石雨晴饰）让给了最好的兄弟汪家龙。好友离奇去世，苏城以陌生人的姿态重回林静身边，但此时的他心里埋藏了许多不能被人知晓的秘密。离林静越近，他就越危险。海边小城，出轨男人频频被杀，连环杀手隐藏暗处，陌生人逐个浮出水面，谁才是活到最后的那一个幸存者？。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
